About GramsToCups

About us.

Making cooking measurements accurate, simple, and accessible for everyone.

Our Mission

GramsToCups was created with one simple goal: to eliminate the confusion between weight and volume measurements in cooking and baking. We believe that precise measurements should be accessible to everyone, from home bakers making their first cookies to professional chefs developing new recipes.

Why We Built This

If you have ever tried following a recipe from a different country, you know the frustration. American recipes use cups, European recipes use grams, and Australian recipes use metric cups. The conversion is not straightforward because different ingredients have different densities.

100 grams of flour fills about 80% of a cup, while 100 grams of sugar fills only 50%. Our tool accounts for these differences, providing accurate conversions for over 45 cooking ingredients.

Our Data

All ingredient density data used in GramsToCups is verified against the USDA FoodData Central database, the gold standard for nutritional and food composition data. We regularly review and update our conversion factors to ensure accuracy.

We support 45+ ingredients across categories including flours, sugars, fats, dairy, grains, and leavening agents. Each ingredient has been carefully measured and verified for consistency.

Privacy First

GramsToCups is built with privacy in mind. We do not use cookies, do not track users, and do not collect personal data. All conversions happen directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your cooking measurements stay private.

Open Source

GramsToCups is a free tool that will always remain free. We believe accurate cooking measurements should not be behind a paywall. If you find our tool helpful, please share it with other bakers and cooks.
